How To Make Your Own Iced Caramel Latte
The hot weather is finally here but on those warm Summer mornings you don't always want to grab your usual hot coffee because let's face it, it always leaves you feeling like you're burning inside and out and like you're a hot sweaty mess. Ice coffees are perfect for the summer but if you are a bit of a coffee addict and need a daily dose, splashing the cash in Starbucks and Costa everyday can get a tad expensive. I figured out that it's actually pretty easy to make your own iced latte and it will cost you a fraction of the price.
Ingredients:
Coffee (I use a standard instant coffee but you can use your preferred coffee)
Caramel Syrup if opting for a flavoured coffee
Ice Cubes or Whiskey Stones (reusable)
Milk of your choice
Method:
1. Make a shot of coffee. Make a black coffee with no sugar in a shot glass. Add more coffee if you like it super strong. Make sure it's all dissolved.
2. Pop it in the freezer. Leave the shot of coffee in the freezer for about 15 minutes to get it to room temperature.
3. Add Ice. Pop some ice in a glass and add the shot of coffee. If you don't want the coffee to be diluted by the ice, use whiskey stones or plastic reusable cubes. Tip: If you don't have time to wait for your coffee to cool, just use a lot of ice and this should be enough to cool it down instantly.
4. Syrup & Milk. If you want it to be flavoured, add 2 tbsps of the syrup. Top it all up with some milk and mix it together. You can use any milk you want, including almond and soy milk if you're dairy free.
It really is that simple to make and it's so much cheaper than heading to a coffee shop everyday not to mention you get to avoid the queues. Anything to make your life a bit easier eh?
