Black Velvet

Charity Shop Dress Tentative Decisions Necklace Topshop All Sorts Boots I haven't worn this dress in about 2 years maybe and I have been umming and aahing over whether to get rid of it or not but I put it on today and kind of fell back in love with it and it's weird cut out-mesh shapes. I think it's kind of interesting and I always feel a bit ~witchy~ when I wear it. The only issue is that you can't wear it bare legged as there would be a whole lot of panty flashing and nobody wants to see my butt. Although I am wearing this outfit mid-July I think it will be great for A/W too - planning ahead there a little bit I know. Also, just as a little side note, these should be the last pictures of my hair looking scraggly and uneven as I went for a haircut not long after - finally! Skin Care Saviour: Nivea Daily Essentials Regenerating Night Cream

Image
Nivea Daily Essentials Regenerating Night Cream - £4.35 I've been on a mission recently to take better care of my skin and have been looking for a night cream that isn't for dry and skin or break the bank. I opted for the Nivea Night Cream as I know their products smell amazing and this is no exception. I simply smooth this on before I go to bed after cleansing and just leave it to do it's thing.   Unlike regular day cream/moisturisers it doesn't 'sink in' right away but you shouldn't really expect it to since it is a night cream so it takes all night to settle in and work. However it does make me worry that I'm going to wipe it all off when I'm in bed. When I wake up in the morning my skin feels refreshed and smooth and therefore lives up to its claim to be 'regenerating'.   The night cream has a Hydra IQ formula meaning it rehydrates your skin but doesn't leave it feeling oily and greasy which is a plus since this is for

Sexism In The Summer

Image
Source Today's post is taking a different a theme to usual but it's something I've been thinking about for a while and a topic that I have seen a lot on the internet lately, particularly on the Twitter of Everyday Sexism  who highlight daily instances of sexism that people experience.   Source Have you ever been walking down the road and had men whistling at you? Beeping their car horns? Shouting inappropriate comments at you such as "get ya tits out"? As the temperatures rise everyone, both men and women, start to wear less clothing because y'know stops you from being all sweaty and stuff. However it seems that some men (emphasis on the some ) see at as appropriate to make women feel uncomfortable by catcalling, wolf whistling, car beeping or just generally spurting inappropriate comments simply because they are exposing more flesh than usual. I know this happens all year round but it seems a lot more common during the hot weather when more

Beauty On a Budget

Image
When reading other people's posts about buying beauty products on a budget I always seem to find myself thinking the products still aren't suitable for people who really are on a budget and for those who don't want to spend more than a fiver on a mascara because they want to save their money for other things. I thought that I would share a few tips on buying beauty products on a budget whilst maintaining the same quality. Shop Around - This is probably the best tip I can give you. If there is a product that you really want but you don't want the full price on it just shop around. Make a note of what you want and look in several shops and work out which is cheapest. Also go in shops that you wouldn't expect to find what you want. For example the Garnier Body Oil is £7.49 in Boots and around the £6 mark in Tesco and ASDA but in B&M it is a mere £2.99. Places to look out for the same products at a lower price are: B&M, Home Bargains and Bodycare as they a

Book to film comparison: Trainspotting

Image
I was getting a bit bored of just writing about beauty and fashion because I feel that it makes it seem like that is all I enjoy when in fact I like loads of stuff. I have written film reviews on my blog before and one of them is my most viewed post (back when I was exceptionally terrible at blogging) so I thought I would get back into sharing with you stuff other than just fashion and beauty themed posts.   This is going to be a new series on my blog where I compare books I have read to their film adaptation and state whether or not I think they did it well. I must admit I tend to watch the film before I read the book but that doesn't always mean that I think the film is better.     I thought I'd start the series with one of my favourite films and books that is Trainspotting which follows the lives of a group of heroin addicts in Edinburgh, their antics and attempts to get off the drugs.   The Book: The novel was written by Scottish author, Irvine Welsh in

Primark Check Shirt ( similar ) Primark Turtle Neck Crop Top ( similar - only £5 ) Primark Mom Jeans ( similar ) H&M Sliders I took these pictures the other week when the weather was utterly pants but fortunately the weather has picked up a lot since then - FINALLY! This outfit is perfect for when it's not hot enough to be getting your legs out but the crop top and sandals make sure that you don't look like you're preparing for winter which is something I always accidently do.       Primark Men's Tee Primark Statement Necklace H&M Leather Skirt Topshop All Sorts Boots When I was taking these pictures the other day it was absolutely peeing it down outside but I really want to dress a bit more summery. Ok so I didn't go the full whack as I am actually wearing clear tights but it's close enough. I just wanted something simple to wear as I had no intention of leaving the house but glammed it up a little bit with my pastel statement necklace from Primark that was only £4 - bargain! I would also just like to raise the point of why on earth is does my hair look so uneven? Like seriously it seems that one side is much longer than the other - time for a mop chop me thinks. Elegant Touch Little Mix Press On Nails

Image
Elegant Touch Little Mix Perrie 2 Press-On Nails - £6.00   As it was my leavers party the other week and since I wore quite a plain dress, I didn't want my nails to be boringly painted a single colour so I bought these artificial nails. I must admit I was a bit put off by the fact that they were Little Mix nails as I'm not really a huge fan but I must admit their taste when designing the nails was pretty good.     The nails come in a variety of sizes and patterns and come with adhesive tabs. I didn't use the tabs as I wanted to make sure they lasted so just used regular nail glue. Figuring out which nail fit your fingers was made easier by the numbers on each nail so you could match it up for each hand. However the patterns on the nails didn't match. For example the pattern on the no.7 for one hand didn't match the pattern on the no.7 on the other hand which for me was kind of annoying. Also I ended up with the same pattern twice on each hand whic

Ikea Wishlist

Image
As I have probably mentioned in previous posts I am becoming a bit of a homeware addict fuelled by images on Pinterest of the most amazing rooms. My love is becoming increasingly worse as I'm off to uni in September so need lots of homeware bits from plates and dishes to bedcovers etc. My Dad has agreed to take me to Ikea because shockingly I have never been before and I think it's about time I go. I have been perusing on their website and it's safe to say that I want pretty much everything. However I have scaled it down to the top 6 things that I want.   1) MULIG Clothes Rack £6.50 - I love how these free standing clothes racks look with your favourite items of clothing on and I think it gives you a bit more inspiration when you don't know what to wear. I have seen similar ones in Argos etc. but they are more expensive and not as nice so this one is great at only £6.50 and it's exactly what I want.   2) CACTACEAE Potted Plant £3.50 -   I really love

Sunday Post #10 & Update

Image
Source I think this picture sums up my week pretty well if you ask me since all I have been doing is getting up late and watching the Vicar of Dibley. If you haven't seen it then please stop what you're doing and watch it now. Whilst your reading this I will probably be sat on a train to Birmingham to visit my Fatherkins where I will have no internet (sob). I have scheduled some posts of course but otherwise it will probably be silence from me. In the mean time you can catch up on this week's posts if you missed them:   More Mom Jeans? - yeah I got another pair of mom jeans and in this post you can see how I styled them and it is my favourite outfit at the moment.   Summer Playlist - see what music I will be listening to this summer ft. the 1975, Haim, the Jam and more.   L'Oreal Infallible Foundation Review - my favourite foundation at the minute and certainly lives up to its name. Have you enjoyed my posts this week? Don't forget to

L'Oréal Infallible Stay Fresh 24hr Foundation Review

Image
L'Oréal Infallible Stay Fresh 24hr Foundation - £9.99   Instantly this foundation has a lot to live up to simply on the basis of its name - infallible, meaning without fault and it is a term used commonly to describe the Pope who can speak infallibly on religious matters. Pope related foundation, who would of guessed? Anyway from the name alone you would be expecting it to basically do what it says on the tin or bottle in this case. The product claims to fulfil the promise of a, "high coverage longwear foundation that hides the appearance of fatigue and blemishes".   Naturally I bought the lightest shade which you can see almost blends into my white desk. I never thought I'd say this about a foundation but it is actually the perfect shade. It's pale with a slight pinky tinge which is exactly my shade. For me it ticks all of the boxes as it gives an almost flawless and non greasy base and lasts throughout the day but it doesn't quite give f

Currently Listening: Summer Playlist

Image
I don't know whether it's just me but during the summer there are certain bands, artists, songs etc. that make me think "it's summer" so today I thought I would compile a Summer playlist to share with you what music reminds me of the hot weather and summer sunshine.   1. You and Me Song - The Wannadies This song reminds me of my journeys to sixth form in the summer when I used to play this song every morning so now it just gives me that summer feeling. 2. My Song 5 - Haim Who doesn't love Haim? They dress amazingly and have the best hair and this song puts me in a good and dancey mood. 3. Club Tropicana - Wham! I think this song is pretty self explanatory. I love Wham! quite a lot and this is the ultimate summer song. 4. My Number - Foals I always underestimate how much I love Foals and this song is a lot happier, more upbeat and summery than some of my other favourite songs of theirs. 5. Diplomat's Son - Vampire Weekend I think Va

More Mom Jeans?

Image
H&M stripe Top (sold out online) Primark Mom Jeans ( similar ) Primark Belt ( similar ) H&M Sliders (sold out online) It appears that I'm changing things up from my usual pair of blue mom jeans and have found a black version and as always I refuse to pay the price that places such as Topshop sell them and instead found that at a fraction of the price. Isn't that how I always do it? These ones are from Primark and were in the sale at a mere £5 and they're wonderful and I love how they look with this stripey oversized crop tee from H&M. I know the stripes are navy blue and the jeans are black and they're two colours you're not meant to mix but I don't really care because I still think it kind of works. Sunday Post #9

Image
Can we all just appreciate my cactus and succulent collection please, especially the one with the googly eyes - how adorable is he? I have had one of those weeks where nothing seems to go right and to top it all off I have managed to accumulate a cold. Aside from the 'oh woe is me routine' I have managed to blog some stuff this week and I am now trying to blog at least every other day. Here's a roundup of what I've posted this week:   Leavers Party - Last week it was my leavers do/party/prom thing so here are just a few pictures and a sort of round up of my evening, including what I wore.   Gingham Midi Skirt - My new favourite skirt and it cost me only £3. See how I styled it in this outfit post.   How I use the Seventeen Wow! 3 way highlighter - The title is pretty self explanatory I guess. This is simply a post showing you how you can use the highlighter and which way I prefer to use it.   I hope you enjoyed this week's posts!     Don

How I use the Seventeen Wow! 3 Way Highlighter

Image
Seventeen Wow! 3 Way Highlighter £5.99   Initially I bought this with the intention just to use it as your basic highlighter and then realised that you can use it in 3 different ways: as a primer, to add to your foundation or to, as I intended, highlight your face. I have used it in all three ways and found different results.   As a primer - I have to say I was probably the most disappointed with the product when using it as a primer as it didn't really change the way that my foundation/make up looked. Equally I didn't notice any difference in how long my make up lasted from using it as a primer and found better results from the Flawless Poreless Primer from the Seventeen collection.   Add to foundation - Unlike when using it as a primer I could really tell the difference when adding a small splodge to my foundation. I was a bit worried that I would look a bit 'Edward Cullen in the sunshine' but it gave more of a subtle glow than shimmery. It is a

Gingham Midi Skirt

Image
Primark Satin Cami Top ( Similar ) Primark Gingham Skirt ( similar )  Primark Sliders New Look Necklace (old but similar here )   Would you believe me if I told you that this outfit cost me no more than £20? That's what you get for being a walking advert for Primark. I have been to Primark on several occasions recently I could never find this skirt in my size and presumed that it just wasn't meant to be but on a final visit I found it in my size and reduced to £3. Now I don't believe in fate and all that but I felt that luck was on my side that day. I have so many ideas on how to style it but today I simply styled it with my black cami and white sliders both of which were £4. This is definitely going to be one of my go to outfits this summer.
