This Month In History - July

Has it really been another month already? It's the last day of the month which can only mean a 'this month' in history post where I'm highlighting some interesting and important anniversaries of events. This month we're talking civil rights, bikinis, Disneyland and plots to kill Hitler.  1. On 2nd July 1964, President Lyndon B Johnson passed the civil rights act to prevent racial segregation. However further action was needed to grant African Americans with equal voting rights.  source 2. In the UK 4th July 1954 saw the end of rationing a whole 9 years after the end of the Second World War.  3. Also on 4th 1976 , The Clash played their first live gig and what a fab band they were.  4. 5th July 1946 saw the introduction of the bikini , designed by Louis Reard. 3 Products I Always Repurchase

Although I love trying new products, there are some items that I will always repurchase and these are my top 3. The L'Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation is a new one for me. At first I didn't like it all that much but after using it for a while, I fell in love as it gives a smooth matte finish and lasts all day. On top of this I always use the Collection Pressed powder in their lightest shade. It's a staple and at £2.99 you can't go wrong. As for eyeliner, I am in love with the Maybelline Master Graphic Felt Pen. It's angled nib makes those flicks so much easier to master so it doesn't look like a 5 year old has attacked my face. These are the products I can see myself repurchasing for a long time perhaps until I find something better but can I be swayed from my habits?  What products do you always repurchase or do you always try new things? 5 Products for Long Hair

As you might be able to tell my hair is pretty long, reaching all the way down to my hips. You might think that it's hard to look after so much hair but I do it using just 5 products and seeing as my hairdresser told me my hair is in excellent condition, I think we can presume they work.  Firstly I wash my hair every other day as washing it every day can actually do more harm than good, getting rid of essential oils. I use the Aussie Luscious Long shampoo and conditioner and every other time I wash my hair I use the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner for a deep treatment. As we all know, Aussie products smell amazing and they keep my hair feeling fresh to the extent that I could probably go three to four days without washing my hair. Once about every two weeks I use Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends hair mask to keep the ends of my hair from getting dry and gross. This is essential if like me you hate getting your hair cut. I only did 5 days but oh wow it tired me out. Shout out to you people who do it week in week out because I really couldn't and it makes me fear becoming an adult and having to do that regularly. I've also agreed to start volunteering as a historical researcher at a local museum which is pretty cool and is giving me a push in the right direction in terms of a career (which I never want to think about - let me be a teen forever). 5 Relatable TV Characters

I have spent a lot (most) of my free time watching TV shows. Rewatching the oldies and starting new series. I think we can all agree that when watching almost every TV show, we find one character and go, "they are my spirit animal" and we find them incredibly relatable. I love this because we then look to them for inspiration of what to do in similar situations, providing us with good (usually) role models. Here are my top 5 sassy and relatable TV characters that I've been loving.  1. Cristina Yang in Grey's Anatomy Probably my favourite from the list. She has all of the characteristics I wish to possess. She's smart, funny, beautiful and she holds a lot of the same views as me, not to mention she is a total emotional brick. I've been eyeing up these lace up tops for a while and Zara decided to put this beauty in the sale so I obviously snapped it up. It will go perfectly with a suede skirt but today I paired it with my houndstooth skirt which I picked up from Primark. I'm really into monochrome which is funny because at some point I used to wear a lot of colour whereas now it seems to always be black, white and grey. 3 Ways to use Coconut Oil

I'm sure we've all heard of the wonders of coconut oil and how you can use for almost everything, from putting it in your food, cleansing and oil pulling. This version from Superdrug has a few added ingredients meaning you probably shouldn't eat it but instead it makes it much better for use on your body. Here's my top 3 ways of using coconut oil.  1. As a shaving cream Simply dig some out and smooth on your legs whilst in the shower and use this bad boy as a shaving cream. It makes it easier to shave and moisturises at the same time without leaving you with shaving rash.  2. As a moisturiser Smooth this over your body after a bath or shower and your skin will feel instantly softer. It's best in summer as it will leave you smelling like coconut - a key summer scent. 3. After going to a Forever Living party to test some of the products, I decided to order a few to try out at home.  The  Forever Ever-Shield Deodorant Stick    works like a charm. It smells super clean and fresh and keeps you from being sweaty throughout the day, minus any stains your usual deodorants leave you with. 5 Goals For July

It appears that I've been free for summer for almost 2 months now and I've done nothing. What better way to change this than to set some goals for this month? Hopefully I will get up off my ass and do something with my summer (or I could sleep until September). 1. Finish my book: I'm currently reading 'An Utterly Impartial History of Britain or 2000 years of Upper Class Idiots in Charge' which is essentially a chronology of the history of Britain written in a humorous way. I never get round to finishing books so I want to try my hardest. 2. Blog More: I have been a bit half hearted with blogging recently and I want to up my game, develop some better ideas and stick with it.  3. Work More: Now that it's summer and I don't have much to do I feel I should get some more hours at work. 4. Watch More Films: Over the past few weeks I've realised how few films I have watched. I feel like I've been slightly absent from blogging recently. I've been quite unmotivated and uninspired which has resulted in my posts being a mish mash of different things so here's another update for you. Having managed to pass first year with a high 2:1 (hell yeah), I've moved into my house for second year. It's so much bigger and spacious and generally a lot nicer than my old place. I will be doing a room tour once I have got it totally how I want it. I'm still waiting on a Hema order.
